Job Description
Patient Care:
Ensures safe, quality preventative foot care services Performs comprehensive preventative foot care evaluation on all new admissions Assesses patients with chronic foot care needs and high risk for wounds, skin breaks, etc. Develops and initiates patient plan of care in accordance to the Diabetic Foot Risk Classification System (American Diabetic Association) Refers patients if neededReporting/Recordkeeping: Collect/reports data regarding current trends and wound care improvements Accurately and efficiently record patient records/treatment
Communication: Effectively communicates with multidisciplinary team members, patients, family members
Budget: Maintains a cost effective approach to preventative foot care Identifies means to evaluate and improve efficient foot care Evaluates foot care needs and supplies within budget
Education: Provides patient/family education Acts as a clinical resource for the Rehabilitation staff Maintains Foot Care Specialist Certification (CFCS) Identify methods to improve educational opportunities for self and peer regarding wound care management
Regulation : Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
Requirements: Bachelors Degree; required Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Mississippi Board of Nursing; required Certified as a Foot Care Specialist (CFCS) or exam eligible; required Certification as a Wound Care Nurse (WOCN); preferred Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical setting; required Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills required Knowledge of various regulatory and accrediting standards; required Excellent interpersonal skills; required
