Description:

As a Senior Project Manager (or Engineer) of Wastewater with Veolia, you will play a key role in the planning and execution of projects for Water and Wastewater Utilities, including sources of supply, treatment plants, pumping stations and transmission mains and collection systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, the Sr. Project Manager/Engineer will oversee projects from inception to completion, including identification, design, construction, & acceptance. You will work with a variety of departments in Veolia, as well as with outside consultants/contractors. You will primarily manage projects & support operations for the Highlands systems located in Passaic & Sussex Counties, New Jersey. Some support may also be needed with projects in the Bergen & Hudson Counties (Hackensack/Franklin Lakes system). This position will potentially work on both water & wastewater systems/infrastructure.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Independently manages approximately $5M of water/wastewater system capital projects per yearAssists the Senior Manager of Engineering & Director of Engineering in managing the $100M+ annually of capital projectsWorks directly with the Operations group to understand their needs in meeting operational, compliance, & health & safety goalsParticipates in the development of projects needs & scope of workPrepares preliminary, engineering, & detailed cost estimatesDevelops project budgets & enters into Veolia’s Oracle database applicationsForecasts, tracks, & reports on project status & expenditures to ensure they are aligned with budget/established prioritiesManages consultant teams during the project studies, design, permitting, & construction phasesCoordinates with Operations during construction, ensuring construction activities aren’t adversely impacting OperationsPrepares bid documents (i.e., scope of work development) & coordinates procurement with supply chain management dep.Manages contractors in the project execution phaseResponds to RFIs, process change requests, & review/ approve invoices in the Veolia AP systemWorks with Operations & Water Quality teams, ensuring needs/expectations are met & provides support in project executionAssists in managing the junior engineer for the delivery of capital projects & other support for this Operation

Qualifications:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil/Environmental Engineering or a related fieldMust have 7+ yrs. of Civil/Environmental Engineering experience (specifically managing water/wastewater infrastructure projects)Must have solid experience & expertise in Utility Projects Engineering & Project ManagementMust have proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications (Sheets, Docs, etc.) Possession of a P.E., F.E., or E.I.T. Licensure that can transfer to the state of NJ a PLUS but not requiredExperience in AutoCAD, ESRI/GIS, PowerPlan, INFOR or other database applications a PLUS but not requiredProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred but not requiredWater / Wastewater Operator Licenses are highly preferred but not requiredMust have excellent communication skills (written/verbal)Must be able to reside in/relocate to the Haworth, NJ area (relocation assistance provided)Must be able to work legally in the U.S. for any employer without visa sponsorshipAbility to pass a background check, drug test, & physical
