Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for physical grain handling, facility operations, and the purchase and settlements of cash grain contracts. Oversees proper record keeping and day-to-day elevator operations at assigned location. Administrates and coordinates specialty programs.
  • Supervises grain accountant specialist, grain operator and seasonal/temporary employees. Conducts day-to-day grain purchases and settlements of commodity and specialty grains.
  • Accounts for numerical sequence of all pre-numbered documents, performs calculations of patron accounts, posts documents and files documents.
  • Buys and makes grain settlements based on grain market action.
  • Assists in month-end financial statements and self-inventory of grain.
  • Keeps WHR records up-to-date and reconciles daily position records.
  • Responsible for accurate profit/loss information.
  • Responsible for quality and condition of all grain in facility.
  • Conducts periodic physical inventory measurements for comparison to book inventories.
  • Supplies grain bids based on company procedures.
  • Performs periodic inspections of all elevator equipment to identify existing problem areas.
  • Ensures routine maintenance and repairs of the Mclean location, along with proper housekeeping practices and safety policy implementation.
  • Assures proper segregation of all inbound commodities, performs and monitors effective blending of all outbound grain.
  • Responsible for implementation of required safety procedures and training employees on company and government standards.
  • Maintains proper housekeeping practices according to safety guidelines.
  • Supports marketing efforts of other areas in the company.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree, high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and 5-7 years or more of grain related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of grain marketing, quality control and employee supervision.
  • Mechanical ability required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Grain Grading Certificate
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Frequently required to lift 50 pounds or more, work at heights over 150 feet. Frequently exposed to dust, extreme heat, extreme cold and high noise level.
  • Ability to work extended hours.
  • Ability to travel independently and overnight.
