Job Description

Maintains and manages a commercial loan portfolio, make sales calls and responsible for overall profitability and quality of loan portfolio.

Interviews loan applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desire, abilities and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk. Evaluates financial condition of the client, value of pledged collateral, and client’s management effectiveness and competency. Makes decision on loans and terms within own lending limits. For loans exceeding lenders established loan limits, the lender will confer with Department Manager, Chief Credit Officer or Senior Loan Committee for approval. Ensures optimum profitability balanced with acceptable risk. Monitors quality of existing accounts by verifying assigned accounts conform to contract and policy limits. Ensures necessary documentation is completed and requests additional data as needed. Recognizes unfavorable trends and recommends corrective action. Confers with the appropriate officer(s) on difficult or sensitive issues. Responsible for attaining loan objectives including origination, outstanding, delinquency, charge-off, fee income, interest income, and return on assets.

Actively participates in Bank sales program; attends appropriate sales training; utilizes sales program initiatives. Makes referrals to other business units for traditional and non-traditional banking products and services. Maintains personal accountability for sales and service standards and for meeting business development, sales and referral goals. Implements tactical plans focusing on relationship selling effort to manage profitable customers in community. Identifies opportunities to deepen relationship with customers. Identifies customers who are not profitable and manages relationship to be a more profitable one. Actively calls on new and prospective customers, exploring needs and cross-selling and recommending bank products and services in best interest of customer and which achieve financial objectives. Ensures thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues relating to loan policy and procedures ( CRA, Fair Lending, etc.) with appropriate application of regulations in day-to-day operations. Demonstrates highest level of professionalism, efficiency and customer service in resolving difficult customer issues. Understands and maintains a thorough knowledge of Central Bank’ services, operations, and organization; communicates understanding to others when appropriate, and refers inquiries and correspondence to the proper department or individual. Responsible for compliance with all banking regulations which are applicable to the job, including Bank Secrecy Act and information security initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing required knowledge, skills and abilities. Three or more years commercial lending credit experience with detailed knowledge of current bank lending procedures and policies, lending regulations (state and federal), and loan documentation. Knowledge of commercial lending and real estate field, including appraisals, deeds, and lien recording. Strong ability to analyze financial statement and loan risk. Must possess good judgment. Ability to make critical decisions independently, research and solve problems, work independently, handle confidential information, and manage multiple tasks. Thorough knowledge of bank products and services is required. Demonstrated skill in soliciting business for bank deposit products and loan services. Ability to identify client needs, present banking solutions and bank products. Ability to recognize closing opportunities and retain and grow customer relationships. Excellent verbal, listening and communication skills. Strong customer relations skills and ability to work with employees and customers in a cooperative manner. Ability and desire to work as part of a team, and with people of diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability and desire to represent Central Bank in the community. Willingness to assume additional responsibilities/duties/projects.
