ASRC Federal is seeking a strong Power Generation Engineer to help support a USDA contract focusing on loans and grants. This ideal candidate will be a certified degreed mechanical or electrical engineer who is experienced with conducting reviews and analyses of the design, procurement, construction, and operation of proposed electrical distribution, transmission, and generation projects in support of loan applications requesting funds to finance proposed projects.

Location: Remote (ability to travel if necessary)

Clearance:  Must be able to pass a government issued background check

Responsibilities:

Reviews, evaluates, and submits recommendations on the technical merits, cost estimates and system effectiveness of electrical facilities proposed to be upgraded, purchased, or built by applicants seeking financing for such projects.Ensures recommendations are consistent with regulations, internal policies and procedures, and prudent utility and sound engineering practices.Reviews and evaluates construction work plans, feasibility studies, power cost studies, financial forecasts, and load forecast studies that pertain to the proposed projects.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineeringA minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with Master’s degree.Must have worked in and have a good knowledge and understanding of the electrical power industry with experience in the design, planning and/or operation and maintenance of electrical distribution, transmission, or power generation facilities.Capable of reviewing and have a basic understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction agreements as well as related transmission and interconnection agreements, operation and maintenance arrangements, power purchase agreements and wholesale power supply agreements.Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work with all levels of professionals.Effective communication skills; strong written and verbal communication.Must be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (must have 3 years of continuous US residency).Ability to successfully pass a government issued background check.

Preferred Qualification:

Experience supporting government contracts or federal work experience.Experience supporting USDA and/or rural development.Be able to travel if necessary.
