Seasonal Hostess

Position Overview
The host/hostess will be performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes taking reservations, seating customers in the restaurant/bar area, and receiving clients or guests. The host/ess with be expected to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. The host/ess will be responsible for developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time, along with observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. The host/ess will be expected to actively handle complaints and resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others. The host/ess will be responsible for analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Responsibilities also include maintaining the restaurant office with paper and office supplies, filing and administrative support as requested by manager.
Qualifications and Physical/Mental Requirements
Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language (level to be customized per position).
The ability to follow payroll and key sign out procedures.
The ability to offer any assistance possible to guests.
The ability to respond properly to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
Comply with TIHTC work rules and standards per the associate handbook and as directed by management.
Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and management
Knowledge of and compliance with all Emergency procedures. Reports unsafe conditions, as appropriate.
Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, associates, and guests.
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Be able to working in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
Specific Position Requirements
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and
demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Previous restaurant experience required.
Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant language(s) of our guests.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Open Table and Micros.
Knows the ingredients, preparation, and proper presentation of all menu items and specials
Greets each new guest as they approach the podium upon his/her arrival and seat guest in a sincerely warm, friendly manner
Foresees to ensure that guest have what they need when they need it
Assures that station is maintained in a clean, neat, orderly fashion
Position Responsibilities
Reports to work on time, in proper uniform (according to standards) and complies with company policy regarding absenteeism and tardiness
Attends all colleague meetings and reads the bulletin board daily for important notices and information, checks schedule daily
Maintain menus in pristine condition, including printing daily menu inserts
Attend to all incoming phone calls
Confirm and follow up on reservations and event bookings
Provide guests with menus.
Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs.
Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints
Receive and record patrons' dining reservations.
Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' concerns are addressed.
Direct patrons to coatrooms and waiting areas such as lounges.
Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service.
License/Certificate - Food Handler and Basset Certifications
