Summary

The Adjunct Instructor - Paramedic educates, trains, and professionally develop students in the Emergency Medical Technician courses. Adjuncts are responsible for activities directly related to scheduled instruction. This can include lecture, labs, clinical, performance and coaching assignments, as well as student assessment and testing.

EMS (EMT and Paramedic) Instructors must be well versed in the delivery of content in full accordance with NATIONAL EMT and Paramedic scope of practice protocols with the end goal of properly preparing students for NREMT examinations. Instructors will deliver class ultimately with this goad in mind.

Essential Functions

All Adjunct Instructor - Paramedic will:

Assist the lead instructor in the delivery of the course material in relief coverage and during lab hours and are required to have the same minimum competency knowledge and skills pertaining to program policies, operation, LMS operation, etc.

Assist class lead instructor as directed, this can include:

Take attendance daily.

Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff, and Medical Director.

Maintain current the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Training Coordinator.

Complete program and CoAEMSP required student evaluations in a timely manner.

Ensure all class and lab space is always properly policed, keeping areas and equipment neat, clean, and in full working order.

Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing the instruction with the available class time.

Follow all rules, regulations, policies, etc. set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff.

Participate in staff meetings and continuing education training when deemed necessary.

Have Intermediate experience using Windows and the MS Office Suite.

Effectively communicate with stakeholders in a professional manner, both verbal and written

Requirements/Qualifications

Must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Florida Level A EMS Instructor Certificate (All instructors)

Minimum of three years of experience with an ALS service

All EMS instructors will have BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor credentials as well as NAEMT instructor certification in PHTLS and AMLS within six months from date of hire to maintain employment.

EMT and Paramedic instructors must meet the minimum requirements as outlined in the Florida Department of Health, Chapter 64J-1 Emergency Medical Services. All EMS instructor candidates must obtain prior to commencing to teach.

For First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician Training Programs, must be certified as a Florida Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, a paramedic or licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the department and have at least three years of field provider experience with an ALS provider.

For Paramedic Training Programs, must be certified as a Florida paramedic in good standing with the department or be a licensed Registered Nurse in good standing and have at least three years of field provider experience with an ALS provider.

Adjunct instructors must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Florida Level B EMS Instructor Certificate (If hired in a Lead Instructor capacity)
