DEPARTMENT:  Student Development 

POSITION TITLE: Student Development Summer Student Assistant

SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Parent, Family and New Student Connections

 SESSION: Summer ( hours per week)

JOB PURPOSE: To assist with and provide administrative and supplemental support for the offices’ daily operations, services and

programs.

Response to questions and referral to campus resources 

Opportunities to use creativity, take initiative for problem solving, and suggest improvements

Interactions with students, parents and families, faculty, staff, outside agencies, and other campus stakeholders

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Presence in the office to respond to visitors, phone calls, and other inquiries in a courteous and helpful manner

Assist in daily office operations (, computer work, making copies, preparing mailings, running errands, etc.)

Filing, including work with confidential records

Frequent use of Docs, Forms and other Google Suite software 

Data entry and analysis 

Responsible for social media projects

Maintain The Wellnest 

Assist with projects related to summer orientation programs (New Student Orientation and Hornet Days)

Participate in student leader training

Fulfill assignments as required or requested by the Executive Assistant to the VP for Student Development

Preparation for the upcoming academic year

Assist with office set up and/or organization

Pick-up and deliver correspondence and other materials from/to campus offices

Run errands on and off campus

Prepare work requests for Print Shop and Physical Plant

Fulfill other tasks as assigned

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer 

Telephone 

Photocopier/Printer

Scanner 

Calculator 

Paper shredder

Common office equipment (label maker, laminator, etc.)

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Should possess excellent oral and written communication skills due to the high volume of contact with students, faculty, staff, and families via telephone, in-person interactions, and in writing 

Must maintain confidentiality of information

Maturity and demonstrated record of responsible action

Positive attitude 

Ability to work on a team 

Ability to work with diverse populations 

Most tasks are performed while sitting; however, some tasks necessitate frequent or extended periods of activity such as standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and/or bending.

Valid driver’s license with outstanding driving record and willingness to be authorized to drive University vehicles for purposes of work related errands

Preferred: Working knowledge of Canva / Canva Pro
