While reporting to the Department Manager, as a Mold setter you will be you will be responsible for collaborating and contributing to the production environment within our manufacturing operations. Safety, quality, productivity, and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture. You will perform tasks that are necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products.
What you will be doing:
- Performs mold changes including the removal and installation of tool, air lines, fill guns, and material supply hoses.
- Inspects and evaluates mold tools. Moves mold to designated location based on results of evaluation.
- Conducts minor mold repairs and maintenance on the press.
- Rebuilds, repairs, and tests fill guns.
- Verifies mold tool has been installed properly by performing a test run.
- Maintains adequate supply of spare parts for fill gun repairs and mold maintenance.
- Operates PIT and documents safety checks.
- Completes and maintains records according to production and quality standards.
- Performs & documents preventative maintenance.
- Maintains cleanliness of manufacturing and storage areas using 5S standards.
- Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of quality and safety.
- Other duties as required.
We want to hear from you if you:
- Have a high school diploma or GED required. 2 – 4 year technical degree preferred.
- Have 2 - 4 years of Manufacturing Experience (Preferred)
- Have basic knowledge of equipment and the molding/expansion process preferred along with hydraulics, and pneumatics, steam systems, maintenance programs, etc.
- Possess good clerical, technical, and mechanical skills required. Ability to troubleshoot machines\
- Have Strong communication and organization skills.
- Are self-motivated individual who can multi-task in a fast paced production setting.
- Are proficient in Excel, Outlook and other MS office applications.
