Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in opticianry or related teaching field. Certification from the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners (ABO-NCLE) is required dependent upon content of assigned courses; and a minimum of 2 years occupational experience is required. Distance learning candidates must provide documentation of completion of appropriate credential for teaching online, as identified by college policy. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass the college’s pre-employment security screening. Additional Considerations Bachelor’s degree in a related teaching field. Classroom and online laboratory teaching experience, and demonstrated teaching and hands-on competencies are preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Demonstrated computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint applications are also preferred. Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel Travel among Reynolds campuses and partner sites may be needed.
