Job Description Summary

Graduate Assistant for football is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the program, including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling, training, monitoring academic progress, promotions, fundraising and coaching team members. The Graduate Assistant is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Liberty University, Conference – USA (C-USA), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Tasks:

Assist coaches with daily needs in all aspects. Develop, instruct, and teach offensive player. Use recruiting technologies to evaluate and recruit potential and current student-athletes. Recruit athletically and academically successful players. Monitor Liberty Football student-athletes day to day academic growth, development, and success. Help with and host PSA during official visits. Help with meal and class checks. Help with summer camps. Assist with completing full defensive breakdown of upcoming opponents on XOS. Assist with drawing defensive scout cards. Organize and meet with defensive scout team. Assist in making scripts, faces, and 8 boxes for practice. Gameday responsibilities include but are not limited to signaling, substituting, and charting defensive tendencies. Ability to communicate effectively with student athletes, staff, parents, alumni, and faculty. Demonstrate to student athletes a standard of high athletic and academic achievement. Demonstrate and instruct strong leadership skills both on and off the field. Ability to uphold all Liberty University policies, guidelines, and expectations. Ability to uphold NCAA rules and guidelines Complete any other tasks/duties assigned by the Head Coach.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required. Knowledge of NCAA Division 1 rules and regulations.

Communication and Comprehension

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates. Strong organizational skills. Excellent computer skills.

Problem Solving

Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations. Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate. (Define if outdoor, dusty, weather conditions, etc.)

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
