Major Responsibilities: The Cafe Attendant is held accountable for the proper preparation of twenty- six specialty beverages, gourmet teas and the quality and safety of food for customers in Java City. The attendant will accomplish these activities by doing the following: 1)Follow proper coffee procedures 2)Utilize standard recipes and ingredient control 3)Follow proper preparation procedures 4)Prepare foods to ensure the freshest possible product to our customers 5)Proper food rotation (first in, first out method) 6)Safe food storage and handling – no cross contamination; label & date all food items The Cafe Attendant is accountable for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The attendant will accomplish these activities by doing the following: 1)Follow daily and weekly maintenance of the equipment and cleaning schedules according to established guidelines 2)Break down, clean, and set-up equipment properly as demonstrated through training 3)Recognize and identify proper chemicals, while adhering to label warnings and MSDS instructions 4)Understand and adhere to the hospital emergency plans 5)Keep floors free of debris 6)Keep towels in sanitized water 7)Keep table and chairs clean and organized 8)Follow established side-work guidelines The Cafe Attendant will follow proper cash handling. The attendant will accomplish this activity by doing the following: 1)Cashier will be held accountable for register overages and shortages 2)Must be polite to the customers, while being accurate and quick at the registers The Cafe Attendant is held accountable for following good guest relations. The attendant will accomplish this by following established guidelines: 3)Work closely with fellow Cafe Attendants to give great services to our customers 4)Follow AIDET policy 1)Treat fellow associates, managers, visitors, and patients with courtesy & respect 2)Accommodate guest’s special needs and requestEducation/Experience Required: • High School Diploma or equivalent preffered • One year previous cash handling experience preferred • Previous food service experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: • Good communication skills • Ability to work in a fast paced environment • Reading, writing, mathematical computation such as those normally acquired with high school or equivalent • Ability to speak English sufficiently to perform job responsibilities • Able to work a cash register • Previous Barrista experience preferred • Able to work cash register N/A
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions: • Some transporting of objects up to 50 lbs • Ability to rotate shifts Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm; Weekends • Various temperature conditions • Flexibility in position assignments • Subject to cuts and burns This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
