Primary Purpose:

Assist campus and teachers with the support of English Learners (EL).

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED Valid Texas educational aide certificate Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Some experience working with children Bilingual preferred; Spanish, Nepali, Telegu, French

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Work with English Learners to support their language development and acquisition. Prepare small group or individual lessons for EL's based on direction from classroom teacher or campus administrator. Provide feedback to students on their progress. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned. Able to maintain confidential information Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Position requires frequent sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, keyboarding, and wrist flexion/extension.
