The Research Information Systems department, also known as MAESTRO, supports the mission of Sponsored Research Services (SRS) through development, implementation, and maintenance of the Maestro enterprise information system. This system supports researchers across The Texas A&M University System. By maintaining and improving Maestro, our employees serve a critical role in the advancement of the research goals of the university.
What We Want
Research Information Systems (RIS) is seeking a Business Analyst who performs routine business analysis support functions for Maestro / Research Information Systems. This position maintains the JIRA activities of the support team and provides quality assurance and user support functions to RIS stakeholders. The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with business analysis, knowledge of project management, MAESTRO system and Research Administration policies, processes and procedures is preferred. What You Need To Know
Proposed Minimum Salary: $4,.34/monthly

Position Details: Hybrid/Remote Work Option: Due to the nature of this position, a hybrid or remote work arrangement may be available for workplace flexibility.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four months (one semester) of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year experience with business analysis.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of project management, mentoring, negotiation skills, basic vendor relations, client relations skills, proposal writing, business acumen, and quality assurance methodologies.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of Research Administration policies processes and procedures.
Knowledge of the Maestro system.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis: Helps collect, analyze, review, document, and define the RIS system scope based on business needs and requirements. Assesses client needs through direct interaction. Helps create detailed functional and technical system specifications and defines data requirements. Helps document business requirements and creates detailed functional and technical system specifications. Documents current business processes and prepares business and technical requirements for new or existing individual applications or module functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
JIRA Management: Refines descriptions and requirements of Maestro project JIRA’s as needing based on feedback received or a lack of needed information. Assist with Release Closeout process to include closing JIRA’s, follow up with users and creation of Release Notes. Support JIRA creation for user documentation updates needed as they are identified. Helps perform scheduled reviews of open JIRA’s assigned to the support team to ensure statuses and comments are updated regularly.
Quality Assurance: Participates in the testing of Maestro components across multiple functional areas.
User Support: Serves as a point of contact for routine questions or requests by assignment from the Maestro Support JIRA’s. Attend meetings with users on specific projects or general topics as a representative of the relevant Maestro project team.
