Job Description 

This position is responsible for the technical expertise and leadership in the facility Sanitation role. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, methods, and technology. The scope will include site sanitation program, pest control program, allergen control, foreign material control, and sanitary design issues. 
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities

·         Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the facility sanitation program to ensure products are manufactured in a sanitary and safe environment. 
·         Review and update Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) for all areas, production lines, and tools. 
·         Coordinate activities with 3rd Party Sanitation Site Manager to ensure consistent use of program procedures and compliance with all sanitation and environmental regulatory requirements (Federal, State and Local). 
·         Maintain and make recommendations for improvement to plant allergen and foreign material control programs. 
·         Coordinate with the QA and Sanitation teams to monitor complaints for trends and lead efforts to reduce/prevent foreign material complaints or potential allergen issues. 
·         Coordinate ongoing Plant Sanitation (based on physical findings and environmental monitoring program results), foreign material source and GMP inspection programs. 
·         Analyze results and provide corrective action support and leadership to drive sanitation, GMP, and pest control improvements. 
·         Review and provide input on sanitary design issues at the facility for existing and new processes as well as the facility structure. The position is expected to help minimize the sanitation issues and maximize cleaning capability on incoming and existing equipment. 
·         Coordinate training and development of employees in the areas of Sanitation/GMP/Pest control/Allergens/ CIP. 
·         Work with outside vendors in collaboration including the 3rd Party Sanitation Site Manager, chemical suppliers, and pest control to maintain and improve site cleanliness. 
·         Facilitate meetings with sanitation crew and to identify opportunities for improvement and drive corrective actions.
Knowledge and Skills 
·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Food Science/Technology, Food Sanitation, or comparable field required 
·         PCQI and HACCP certification preferred 
·         Professional GMP/Sanitation training 
·         Minimum 3 years in Food Plant Sanitation/Quality Assurance 
·         Effective communicator with training, facilitation, and supervisory skills 
·         Self-motivation and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization 
·         Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital quality software required
