The Proposed Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine is currently seeking a Chair of Osteopathic Medical Education. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Bio-Medical Education, the Chair of Osteopathic Medical Education has overall responsibility for the clinical curriculum in years 1-4.

Responsibilities:

Oversees OPP and OMM Curriculum in MSOM years 1-4 Prepares and recommends a departmental budget. Develops and oversees Clinical Skills Training and Evaluation Center. Implements Standardized Patient/simulation programs in collaboration with the MSOM Director of Simulation.  Coordinates with SOM representative to the IPE collaboration. Coordinates scheduling of SOM faculty clinical duties Supervises and evaluates all OMM and OPP integration into courses, including but not limited to: Family MedicinePediatricsNeurologyInternal MedicineSurgeryOb-GynPsychiatry Coordinates with Clinical Course Directors to select clinical texts, equipment and clinical simulators. Assists in the preparation of materials and documentation required for accreditation. Collaborates in Faculty Development programs for clinical adjunct faculty. Provides counseling, mentoring, and guidance to students. Performs clinical duties at Meritus Health as directed. Attends Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, new student orientation, and other events as needed. Assists in the selection of students to attend MSOM Establishes mutual respect with faculty, staff, and students through effective and timely communication including expectations, deadlines, and feedback on work completed. Serves on assigned MSOM committees. Responsible for other duties as assigned by the MSOM Dean.

Education/Skill Requirements:

Earned DO degree from an American Osteopathic Association-COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine. Board Certified by an AOA-BOS or ABMS member board. Current and unrestricted medical license issued by the Maryland Board of Medical Examiners. Current and unrestricted DEA certificate. Previous experience in academic medicine, preferably at a college of osteopathic medicine.  Proven leadership and management qualifications.

A history of demonstrating strong character and outstanding integrity. Strong critical thinking, anticipatory problem solving and attention to detail is required. Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work to complete assignments accurately and within reasonable timeframes. Must have current knowledge and skills in utilizing Microsoft Office Applications, including but not limited to Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Must be able to learn and utilize Learning Management Systems such as Canvas; and the school's online platform and systems. Must demonstrate cooperation, courtesy, and consideration when working with professional community, faculty, students, and the public. Must be able to work independently and also as a member of a team. Alignment with the mission and vision of the MSOM.
