We are seeking a RT Level II Rope Access Technician for a full-time position in Geismar, LA. The Rope Access Technician is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform inspections and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes. Non-exempt role; Reports to Foreman; Performs a variety of routine duties within established policies.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Must have TWIC card
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Level II RT cert with current IRRSP or state card
  • IRATA / SPRAT Level I,II, or III certification
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Must be considered local to the job. Per diem is not included.
  • Documentation needed: certifications and resume
  • CR/DR and conventional RT methods
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills

Functional Requirements:

Uses Industrial Rope Access methods and related equipment to access and complete a wide variety of inspections and other industrial work tasks while on ropes, in difficult access areas, and accessible areas; Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to the IRAT/SPRAT standards and practices; Ensures team members utilize proper personal protective equipment; Displays a healthy respect for heights and follows all OSHA, site specific and company's safety procedures; Participates in required training and maintains a working understanding of rope access safe working practices; Inspects and verifies rope access systems and components before use; Recognizes worksite hazards and notifies the Rope Access Supervisor of any unsafe conditions; Maintains proficiency at rescue techniques and assist in rescues as directed and in accordance with certification level; Performs physical activities that require considerably use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking; Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction


Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 50 - 75 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards
