Physician Assistant for Pain Clinic

If you answered yes, we'd like to talk with you about joining the Kalamazoo Anesthesiology Pain Consultants team as a Physician Assistant in our outpatient Pain Clinic

  • Promote and maintain patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Monitor and record physiological assessments and measurements
  • Provide treatment to patients per protocols
  • Counsel and provide health teaching to patients and their families; explaining the procedures planned for the patient
  • Provide for and respect the patient’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Notify appropriate persons promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions occur
  • Document in the EHR all pertinent information appropriately
  • Demonstrate courteous, cooperative, and respectful behavior
  • Safeguard and inventory equipment and supplies
  • Maintain appropriate count for controlled medications
  • Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Other duties as assigned

The PA reports to the KA Pain Clinic Medical Director & General Manager.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Strong understanding of pharmacology
  • Experience developing treatment plans for patients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
  • EMR systems: 1 year minimum, required
  • Pain Management: 1 year minimum, preferred
  • Current BLS required

  • This job operates in a medical facility where there is patient care equipment. Hazardous materials are also present, which require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Exposure to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases is possible.
  • This job is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting and supporting patients. Must be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, and frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with patients and team members who have questions and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
