About the role

This is a full-time opportunity located at Stanwell Power Station.

The Environmental Advisor role is to provide governance, technical advice and support to Stanwell Power Station to deliver compliance and functional plan, whilst supporting broader site and corporate health safety and environment division. This is achieved through communication and engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, while keeping abreast of legislative changes and requirements.

Key activities include:

Work effectively as a member of the Stanwell Power Station HSE team, supporting operationas ensuring a professional technical environmental service is provided to the site. Leading the HSE team on environmental issues, regulation and management at local, state, national and international levels. Where required, provide support to the HSE Manager SPS. Maintaining a current and accurate view of the rapidly changing landscape of environmental regulation, through engagement with industry bodies and regulatory agencies. Develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to accelerate HSE learning and improvement. Conduct environmental audits and investigations, ensuring effective escalation and flow of information, investigations, learnings, actions and audits.

About you

A Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in relevant discipline including Environmental Science, Management or Engineering; Qualifications in environmental or quality auditing in accordance with SAI Global (desirable). Certification and registration as a Environmental Professional (desirable). At least five to seven years’ experience within heavy industry such as power, gas, wind, solar, hybrid power, and infrastructure (general, roads, bridges, structures, including those for the mining and water sectors) would be an advantage. Demonstrated understanding, judgement, interpretation and analytical skills to provide sound environmental advice, including formulating and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems and issues across a broad range of areas.
