About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS):
The mission of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is to celebrate, explore and steward all that is authentically wondrous about Indiana. The ISMHS is a forward-thinking, unparalleled resource for learning about and appreciating Indiana and its role in the world. We discover, collect, preserve, interpret and present artifacts and exhibits that showcase the stories of Indiana's natural and cultural history, art and science.
Role Overview :
As the Historical Site Interpreter at Angel Mounds State Historic Site, you will primarily be responsible for guest services at the site and operating the admissions/gift shop counter. This role will also assist with public programming, including giving tours, and keeping the facilities clean for our visitors. Approximately 28 hours/week.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $ but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows: Responsible for interpreting all aspects of the site including but not limited to the following duties:
Guided tours Educational and Public Programming assistance Special events
What You'll Need for Success:
Must have excellent people skills, be comfortable interacting with large groups of people and children, and display a love of history Ability to learn facts and retain information Must have or be willing to acquire knowledge of site and surrounding area Must be organized and responsible Must be able to work unsupervised as necessary
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
