As a successful candidate, you will speak fluent English and Spanish, be responsible for obtaining patient records, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures.

To progress in this role, you will possess a certificate from an accredited medical assistant program and have at least one to two years of prior experience in a medical setting - these items are preferred, but not required. A basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology.  You will maintain the highest degree of confidentiality pertaining to patient information/records, as well as that of the Clinic; establishing trustworthiness, dependability, and accountability to the team by demonstrating good attendance and punctuality, arriving a minimum of 30 minutes prior to clinic start time, and by behaving with class and professionalism to both staff and patients alike.  

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, performing vitals, test results and other information for medical records, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Preparing prescription assistance applications, completing and submitting, and following up on status.
  • Assisting the Provider with patient follow-up phone calls, as directed, including but not limited to reporting lab results and referrals, etc.
  • Assisting the front office personnel with finding CPT codes for orders.
  • Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.
  • Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Assisting the RN or other physicians in practice during clinic operating hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Medical Assistant Requirements:
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking).
  • Certification from a medical assistant program or military medical corpsman program is preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a medical setting is preferred.
  • High School diploma at minimum.
  • A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, reference tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
  • Data entry of patient data (vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint) onto routing slip and into electronic medical record, and working in tandem with front office and laboratory personnel to accomplish a positive work flow.
  • Understand simple, intermediate, or complex medical terminology and concepts with the ability to translate into non-technical language.
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly staff meetings, when scheduled.
  • Provide input by suggesting changes and/or solutions to problems.
  • Undergo training/continued education (when required) to improve performance of this position.
  • Understand clinic hierarchy by referring to and abiding by the policies, processes, and procedures set forth by Clinic Management.
  • Attend and participate in clinic fundraisers and other functions.
  • Respecting self and others by treating all staff members with dignity, respect, and professionalism, and contributing to a team effort.
  • Understanding and adhering to boundaries, both personal and professional, specifically  including patient privacy during operating hours.
  • Be willing to accept proper training from supervisory or other staff members, as well as constructive counseling when deemed necessary by Management or other supervisory staff.
  • Ensuring the Provider and/or Clinic Coordinator no longer require services prior to departure from the clinic.
  • Demonstrating honesty when clocking in and out of the time and attendance system utilized by the clinic (currently uAttend) and submitting time sheet to the ED in a timely manner as dictated by the due date for payroll processing.
  • Other pertinent duties as required or assigned by Management.

Clinic Operating Hours:  Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. - Lunch Hour from 12:30 -1:30 p.m.  No benefits.
 Gossiping and demeaning other employees, the use of foul language, vulgar acts or anything of the like will not be tolerated.  This includes discussing decisions made by Management regarding other staff members or other types of facility management.  Any violation of this policy will be treated with disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
