Talent should be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with districts: South Pike staff and students. Maintain student and school personnel confidentiality. Talent endeavors to understand and respect the values and traditions of the diverse culture and community represented in the classroom. JOB GOAL- is to provide instruction for scheduled lessons, handle the classroom environment and promote student learning in the absence of the normal classroom teacher.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Substitute Teachers work at all times under direction and supervision of district: South Pike Public Schools employees, and shall exercise the following responsibilities:
Report to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials. Dress in a safe and appropriate manner as described in the KE Standards of Professional Conduct. Follow sign in/sign out procedures as prescribed by the district: South Pike Schools principal.
Assume duties of the regular districts: South Pike Schools classroom teacher promptly and in compliance with school rules. May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom) as advised and supervised by districts: South Pike Public Schools principal. Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivate students to learn and participate. Teach students regarding a variety of classroom topics/courses of instruction, as determined by the districts: South Pike Public Schools lesson plan.
Build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Addresses the various learning styles of students accordingly. Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in congruence with the districts: South Pike Public Schools lesson plans. If serious or disruptive student behavior problems occur, seek assistance from a teacher or a building administrator.
Minimum requirements:
- HS/GED
- 21 years of age
