Job Summary:

This position will provide support for Cost Accounting functions, including the analysis of cost and inventory data, freight, and related systems (JustFood) and procedures. It is the first contact for cost accounting questions at the plant level. The Cost Accountant will collaborate with production/accounting/inventory clerks and is responsible for reviewing all production data entries and reconciling entries for production-related supply and raw material inventories, as well as WIP (work in process) and FG (finished goods) inventories. This role is directly linked with the JustFood Production Software System.

Responsibilities:

Apply cost accounting and analytical skills, along with production process experience, to measure production operations at the plant. Maintain and process improve financial internal controls. Review any inaccuracies of the data entry with the Production Leads including any process improvements. Calculate and analyze all standard and actual production costs, including raw materials, labor and overhead. Develop pertinent reporting, covering the areas of inventory, production, actual cost, standard cost, yield variances, and cost variances.  Work collaboratively with plant operations and the JustFood Production Software System Administrator. Provide to the Director of Manufacturing the weekly forecasts relating to plant performance. This includes follow up comparisons versus actual results weekly and/or monthly. Responsible for preparation of operations labor and overhead budgets. Partner with Director of Manufacturing to prepare a detailed capital budget, including ROI, reporting, tracking, re-forecasting, and fixed asset disposals. Work with accounting team to complete manufacturing accounting month-end process. Analyze standard and actual costing for existing product lines. Prepare estimates of proposed product lines profitability. Assist with the annual standard costing process, prepare actual vs. plan (budget) analysis. Analyze changes in product design, determine cost impact on raw materials and labor. Analyze change in cost of revised production layouts. 

  Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field of study, preferred.  Minimum five years of experience in cost accounting, internal controls, and manufacturing production. Must possess the ability to understand processes and internal controls relating to a Production plant. Must demonstrate leadership skills in confronting difficult issues and taking appropriate actions, in the face of opposition. Proficient in Microsoft Tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must possess the ability to appropriately collaborate and communicate with team members across all levels of the organization.
