Registration/Financial Counselor

The purpose of this position is to verify insurance coverage of all patients, register patients and obtain pre-authorizations as required for surgery prior to the date of scheduled procedures. This position will also require review of all financial obligations with patients and/or family member.

Verifies insurance coverage as to deductibles, coinsurance and co-pay required for all patients on surgery schedule. Reviews and explains the financial responsibility to the patient. Verifies via internet or telephone methods as appropriate to insurance plans. Contacts physician office and/or patient for clarification if needed. Provides procedure estimates to patients and registers patients in the system. Assists with collections in admitting when patients present for procedure.

Qualification:

High School Diploma 3-4 years experience working in a medical facility or physician business office Prior experience verifying medical insurance benefits Fluent in English
