Overview

The Utilities Foreman is responsible for monitoring work priorities using a computerized maintenance management system to analyze work order backlog, resource availability, asset criticality, maintenance schedules, safety plans, and job plans for different types of equipment work. They will assist and review the development, implantation, monitoring, compliance, and improvement of traffic control programs around job sites. They are also responsible for ensuring all field work is in accordance with City Standards, AWWA Standards, and TCEQ regulations for all field crew and construction crew work.

Responsibilities

· Lead a team in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collections for emergency and planned work in accordance with City Standards

· Direct and lead a team of Utility Technicians in advanced and specialized activities for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems

· Perform data analysis to forecast issues that may affect departmental performance standards

· Coordinate new water distribution and wastewater collection system infrastructure projects communicating with Contractors and Project Managers on installation and testing

· Conduct planning sessions with Work Coordinators, General Foreman, and Crew Leads in and around Utility Division work sites

· Participate in group meetings and help develop effective work strategies and protocols to resolve issues of concern

· Supervise a team of full time and/or temporary employees assigned to water distribution and wastewater collection crew(s)

· May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Requires a High School Diploma/GED

· Minimum of seven (7) years of experience

· TCEQ Class C Water License or Wastewater Collection III license required at time of hire

· Secondary TCEQ issued Utilities license or a Class A CDL required at time of hire

· A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
