Job Title:   Journeyman Chiller Technician  (JPL)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services, Inc. has an immediate need for a Journeyman Chiller Technician in Pasadena, CA.  The project is approx. million SF with more than buildings on campus. The Chiller Technician is responsible for the operations, repairs, replacement, and preventative maintenance of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, controls, and other building mechanical equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Performs troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various types of HVAC equipment and systems ( large Air Handlers, Chilled Water Systems and Cooling Towers, Cooling Rack Air Handling Systems, Hot Water and Steam Boilers, Split Systems - up to tons, package Units - tons, VAV Systems, Variable Speed Drives). Refer to section in the TTD Performs troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on centrifugal, scroll, and process chillers and chiller control panels, routine mechanical and electrical for chillers. Troubleshoot and maintains DDC Controls and Energy Management Control Systems Chiller Technician will provide technical support / service to JPL chiller plants. Work directly with HVAC Lead with all issues relating to the chilled water plants. Able to operate related measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments. Responsible to log all refrigerant usage into Site Refrigerant logs. Responsible for the completion of all PM and record keeping assigned to his / her areas of responsibility. Work with the MRO group to provide vendor quotes and information for ordering material. Responsible performing preventive maintenance on assigned utility cart.

Qualifications:  

Requires a -year apprenticeship program or technical schooling with minimum of five () years’ experience as a HVAC and chiller mechanic. Universal License (EPA - ) EMCS / BMS experience is required (Niagara N or Siemens preferred) Must demonstrate current knowledge of maintenance practices and concepts. Must have knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety codes and be able to read, interpret, and explain schematics and drawings. Must have the ability to resolve complex issues that require analysis, evaluation, and interpretation. Must have knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications and email). Must be able to move / lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, and work at various heights. Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills Ability to read and write in the English Language Valid CA driver’s license Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions Provide own basic hand tools
