Summary

Provides customers with technical services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Disassembles malfunctioning instruments and examines and tests for defects.
  • Replaces or repairs defective parts.
  • Reassembles instrument and tests for conformance to specifications.
  • Receives incoming repairs, loaners, defective parts and assemblies.
  • Provide service training and support to representatives and sales personnel.
  • Conducts repair and maintenance of loaner instruments.
  • Talks with customers by phone to provide verbal technical support, ascertain cause for service request, type of malfunction, customer contact name, city, and state.
  • Records customer complaints and instrument failures or troubles.
  • Tracks instrument or product failures and customer complaints.
  • Assists with related special projects, as required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Competent in computer usage including Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
