Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. 

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for mine technologies in the field and the integrity of data extracted from those technologies. These include truck and shovel fleet management systems and reporting software such as PowerBI and ConnectedMine.. The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Dispatchers and Dispatch Technicians while continuously improving mine operations productivity and efficiencies. The Dispatch Supervisor will also act in a serviced based role, ensuring that the data and technologies are functioning and reporting correctly for Mining, Maintenance, and Technical Services departments.

Education and Experience

    
1.    BA or equivalent experience preferred.  Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and keep records.
2.    Previous experience managing and/or supporting one or more of the following technologies is required: Modular Mining Dispatch, Jigsaw Technologies, Caterpillar MineStar, and Caterpillar Caes/Terrain.
a.    Preferred Dispatch Hardware Experience
i.    3+ years’ experience installing and/or maintaining DC electrical systems to the highest standards.
ii.    3+ years’ experience installing and maintaining Mine Technology hardware related to Modular Mining Dispatch, Aquila Machine guidance, Provision Machine Guidance and/or other applicable hardware.
iii.    Able to design and implement installation of new systems on different types of equipment.

3.    Preferred 5 years’ experience in the administration of Fleet Management Systems.
4.    Preferred 5 years’ experience in Project Management.
5.    Proficient computer skills.
a.    Preferred Database experience:
i.    Able to write and debug the SQL programming language.
ii.    Able to design, deploy and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services Reports.
iii.    Able to design, deploy and maintain SQL Server Integration Services Packages for integration of new and existing data sources.
iv.    Able to design, deploy and maintain Power BI reports for desktop and mobile use.
v.    Understand the attributes of effective KPI Reporting and display of data.
6.    General knowledge of mining methods and operating practices.
7.    Solid knowledge of Radio and GPS Theory.
8.    Experience and knowledge regarding FCC Regulations preferred.
9.    Previous equipment operator experience in the mining industry preferred.
10.    Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
11.    Excellent troubleshooting skills.
12.    Ability to work with little or no supervision.
13.    Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
14.    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
15.    May work holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
16.    Valid driver’s license required.
    
 

Skills

1.    Evaluate Dispatch Data on a regular basis to ensure data is accurate and to develop additional solutions to improve performance.
2.    Manage Development of Reporting tools to provide the Team with the best possible data to base day-to-day decisions.
3.    Continuously upkeep existing reporting tools such as PowerBI and ConnectedMine to ensure data accuracy and day-to-day report/dashboard functionality.
4.    Maintain a proper balanced Budget.
6.    Oversee and provide support to Field Techs related to Field Wireless Network.
7.    Coordinate, develop, and support technologies from all departments requiring access to a field wireless network.
8.    Support field network cameras to facilitate operational needs.
9.    Evaluate dispatch data to develop additional solutions to improve performance.
10.    Manage development of reporting tools to provide the best possible data.
11.    Research and stay informed of newer technologies.
12.    Ensure implementation of new practices.
13.    Utilize the dispatch system to ensure efficient use of production equipment and personnel.
14.    Maintain open communication and coordination with Mine Supervisors, Technical Services, and Maintenance personnel to ensure that dispatch and other technologies are supporting the departments goals .
15.    Monitor and maintain accurate production records and employee files (i.e. daily production, evaluations, time cards, etc.).
16.    Ongoing training of all Dispatchers, Technicians, and Supervisors in the proper use of the dispatch system.  
17.    Perform other duties as required.
