About Us

UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center Downtown location has 44 chemo chairs, 11 private rooms and four beds to provide chemotherapy and immunotherapy. We treat all solid organ and hematologic cancers. Our physicians are experts in specfic disease sites allowing them to better understand the challenges our patients face. Our patients are seen in a multi-disciplinary care model resulting in our patients normally being seen by multiple physicians on their first visit and possibly recieve an infusion the same day. The innovation and reseach at the Brown Cancer is top notch with patients being offered clinicial research trials for new treatment modalies. Our cancer outreach program has allowed us to educate, screen and provide medical services in surrounding rural communities.

We have a beautiful bone marrow cellular therapy (BCT) outpatient clinic with inpatient capaibilities in UoL Hospital.

Our onsite Radiation Oncology also uses a multidisciplinary treatment approach which provides the best technology in this field to our patients. We provide CyberKnife, TrueBeam, Trilogy, TomoTherapy, Brachytherapy, and Xoft.

Responsibilities

The Manager of Oncology Navigation Programs provides program development and operational leadership for these Programs within the BCC/Oncology Service Line of the UofL Health Network. This includes, but is not limited to:

Collaborating with multidisciplinary physicians and providers, RN Navigators and other non-physician disciplines (e.g., dietitian, social workers, clinical trials) to ensure optimal performance of the multidisciplinary tumor boards, as well as of the nodule boards and related processes to address actionable findings (e.g., found through screenings, external referrals into the Oncology Service Line, or incidental findings within the Network). Managing the Oncology RN & non-RN Navigators across the spectrum of cancer care, including cancer screenings, multidisciplinary treatments & clinics, embedded network-hospital oncology navigators, genetics navigation, new-patient navigation, and career development. Collaborating with the medical/program director(s) of the Screening Program for, e.g., operational matters, opportunities for improvements and implementation of plans for same. Collaborating with the Physician and Non-Physician leaders of Radiology and other service lines in the Network, regarding cancer screenings, incidental findings processes, and timely communications processes. Collaborating with Network Marketing regarding these Programs, ensuring the most up-to-date screening recommendations are published on Network websites. Operating cancer screenings program with a goal of providing a “one-stop shop” point of contact for Network Primary Care and other Physicians, including creating and streamlining processes for providing timely phone/other contacts, knowledge of processes for scheduling procedures in Network facilities, and, where appropriate operationally, timely communication of screening results including actionable findings and recommendations. With the Medical/Program Directors, collaborating with external resources such as the Kentucky Cancer Program, Gilda’s Club, or others, regarding their screening services available to Network patients, including working with Marketing to develop communications of same to Network patients and providers. Engaging with all relevant sites within the Network that provide cancer screenings (e.g., mammograms, colonoscopies, and lung scans) to agree upon and maintain relevant metrics & reports as defined.

In addition to organizational management responsibilities, the manager will work collaboratively with screening program directors, senior physician and non-physician leaders, within and related to the BCC/Oncology Service Line, regarding operational matters, including tumor board operations, patient-specific navigation issues, policies and procedures related to oncology and ancillary service programs, and assisting with strategic direction and common goals of the organization.

Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

Bachelor’s degree required; BSN from an accredited and approved school of nursing preferred. RN License in good standing in KY preferred. OCN or other oncology certification preferred; annual oncology competencies required if no certification. Master’s degree preferred (MPH, MHA, or MSN preferred)

Experience (required and preferred):

Five to Seven years of experience in oncology nursing preferred. Five years’ management experience preferred, including personnel management, team leadership, and project management.
