Position SummaryPOSITION OVERVIEW

This position assists the Information Technologies (IT) Department to build and implement applications and application specific databases.Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the Information Technologies Department by developing and implementing applications and application specific databases
  • Builds automated reporting tools and automated data-import/export tools by using SQL, SQL server, SXML, Visual Basic, and other related software with an emphasis on SQL programing.
  • Creating support tools built in object-oriented languages such as SXML, Java, C++ and C#.
  • Writes queries and reports for specific campus entities (including the campus internet and intranet).
  • Administers campus database systems (Informix, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Develops documentation, and assists in training IT staff and users in the use of these systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of advanced programming and scripting
  • Knowledge of database design
  • Knowledge of relational database software or equivalent student information or related system
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Informix, PostgreSQL and Linux scripting
  • Knowledge and experience with XML, SXML, SQL, PHP and scripting environments
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows Server, Linux, Solaris, Unix or development and systems administration
  • Knowledge and experience developing with both frontend and backend web technologies and languages
  • Knowledge and experience creating SQL queries
  • Knowledge and experience installing and configuring database systems, programming environments, and
  • Knowledge and experience installing and configuring server operating systems including Windows Server, vSphere and various Linux distributions
  • Knowledge and experience managing software and scripting repositories

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Computing Systems or a directly related field and/or substantial work experience in Information Technology or related field, 3-5 years minimum.
  • Minimum of two years related experience or and equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
