Qualifications: 

Full approval as a State of Michigan School Psychologist preferred, temporary approval considered. Valid State of Michigan license. Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and other legal aspects of the role of the school psychologist. A commitment to improving learning for all students. Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships. Must have a knowledge of the organization and administration of local, county and state agencies and their services for pupils. The ability to consult, counsel, and collaborate with pupils, parents, school personnel, and appropriate outside personnel regarding mental health, behavior, and educational concerns utilizing psychology principles. An understanding of the rationale of testing, measurement, and skills in the administration of tests, including those which measure intelligence, achievement, adaptive behavior, perceptual-motor skills, and behavior. Understanding of personality development and the assessment of human behavior. Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Description:

Anticipated start date as soon as possible.  Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations. Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child’s program and any adaptations / materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the educational setting or at home. Participate in planning and implementing prevention programs to address the academic, social and affective needs of students. Design appropriate research-based academic and behavioral interventions for students with disabilities. Establish and monitor the necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources to manage School Psychologist services to students/staff and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals of the school. Implement appropriate and alternative ways to monitor and assess the effectiveness of interventions and individual student progress toward goals.
