Job Summary:

The Vice President of Wholesale Lending will oversee and manage the credit union’s wholesale lending operations, ensuring the successful growth, development, and profitability of our lending products. This role will be pivotal in maintaining and expanding relationships with mortgage brokers, third-party originators, and other external wholesale partners. The VP will play a key role in establishing strategic initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in wholesale mortgage lending, strong leadership skills, and a passion for member service and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:

    • Develop and implement the overall strategic vision and objectives for the credit union’s wholesale lending division.
    • Lead and manage a team of lending professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure team success and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish performance goals, operational metrics, and budgets for the wholesale lending division.
    • Promote a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and high performance.

     

  • Business Development & Partnerships:

    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with third-party brokers, correspondent lenders, and other external partners to drive loan production.
    • Identify new business opportunities and oversee the negotiation and execution of partnership agreements.
    • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to stay competitive and adapt business strategies as needed.

     

  • Operational Management & Risk Oversight:

    • Ensure the effective and efficient processing, underwriting, and funding of wholesale loans.
    • Collaborate with internal departments, such as underwriting, operations, and compliance, to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality service delivery.
    • Establish and enforce policies and procedures to manage risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain a high standard of operational excellence.
    • Analyze performance data and reporting metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

     

  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:

    • Ensure all wholesale lending activities comply with state, federal, and local regulations, as well as credit union policies and guidelines.
    • Stay current on changes in the mortgage lending industry, including regulatory changes, to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
    • Oversee audits and internal reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented when necessary.

     

  • Budgeting & Financial Management:

    • Develop and manage the division’s budget, monitoring expenses and profitability to meet financial goals.
    • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on financial performance, loan volume, and strategic initiatives.

     

  • Member Experience:

    • Maintain a strong member-first mentality, ensuring that all wholesale lending services are aligned with the credit union’s mission of providing outstanding value and service to its members.
    • Work closely with the marketing team to promote lending products to potential third-party partners.
