Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Histology Technician (Histology Tech) to join our healthcare team in Atlanta, GA, for a 13-week contract. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in histology, including pathology, cytology, and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Responsibilities include receiving and accessioning specimens, preparing and processing samples, and maintaining accurate records using Cerner EMR.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and accession specimens from surgery and other departments.
Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination.
Perform routine and specialized histology techniques, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry.
Ensure quality control and accuracy in specimen handling and processing.
Maintain accurate documentation and records of specimens and test results using Cerner EMR.
Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate results.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histology Technician.
ASCP certification required.
Proficiency in pathology, cytology, and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
Experience with Cerner EMR preferred.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
