Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an early to mid-career Ecologist II to join our growing team of professionals in Hunt Valley, MD. The selected candidate will work on natural resource assessments, planning, regulatory compliance and permitting on projects in Maryland and across the Mid-Atlantic Area. Specific tasks may include field investigations, preparing assessment reports, and coordinating in the field with resource and regulatory agencies and clients. Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support routine as well as high profile, complex infrastructure projects by conducting wetland and waterway assessments, associated permitting, and other required natural resource approvals.
  • Lead or participate in natural resources fieldwork.
  • Prepare written and graphic reports.
  • Prepare basic data and scientific documents.
  • Assist in developing and managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Will perform wetland and stream assessments, biological and forest assessments, and field surveys in the mid- Atlantic region.
  • Will be supporting the marketing of company services by delivering high-quality, accurate work products to external and internal clients.
  • Some travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with some overnight stays possible. 

 


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Driver’s license and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Environmental Science.
  • 4 to 7 years of industry experience with skills in wetland and waterway assessment and permitting, ecological assessments, forest evaluations and agency coordination.
  • Tidal and non-tidal wetlands assessment and permitting experience.
  • Experience with forest assessments.
  • Ability to write well, distill supporting information in the scientific literature, communicate technical issues to a wide range of readers
  • GIS software and Field Map experience a plus.
