Position Responsibilities:
- Functions as a first or second scrub under the direct supervision of the perioperative RN
- Assisting physicians in surgery by anticipating the need for surgical instruments and supplies
- Responsible for practicing sterile technique
- Takes the lead in the orientation and education of new staff and students, as directed
- Inspecting operating rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; stocking and maintaining rooms with adequate supplies
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Surgical Technologist Certification is preferred
- One year of prior surgical technician experience is preferred, however, new graduates are welcome
- Knowledge of basic surgical technology principles and protocols is required
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
