Colgate’s Boathouse located on Lake Moraine seeks monitors for late spring and summer. This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service. Accountabilities Monitors maintain the fleet of recreational canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddles boards (SUP’s), sailboats, a rowboat and a pedal boat. Provide basic information and instruction to members of the Colgate community using these vessels. Educate and enforce all safety protocols and procedures set by the Lake Moraine Association, Colgate University and recreation department. Assists the Boathouse Manager and Assistant Director of Recreation in managing administrative duties such as waivers and reservations. Ensures all marine equipment, personal floatation devices, and other patron equipment is cleaned, sanitized and maintained for recreational use. Requirements Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- Must be customer service oriented, and have good verbal communication skills.
- Must be comfortable on the water in boats.
- Must be capable of working collegially with diverse groups of faculty, staff, students and community members
- Some knowledge of recreational flat water kayaking, canoeing or sailing preferred.
