Position Description

Jr. Staff Accountant 

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. They will strive to understand the organization as a whole in order to interact effectively with and provide assistance to all levels of the company. Day-to-day activities will be executed with guidance and direction from Accounting Management relative to overall corporate goals and objectives to be achieved. Completed work is reviewed in terms of accuracy, efficiency and timeliness of the function and completion of goals. The exercise of sound accounting principles and good judgment is a must.

Principal Accountabilities:  

Daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of all deposits from 19 locations and accurate reporting of test counts and revenue. Review assigned accounts and journals to ensure all business transactions are recorded. Prepare and issue invoices for applicable business segments. Meet processing and reporting deadlines consistently. Report to the Finance/Business Manager and work to improve financial processes. Respond to information requests from management and assist with the annual audit. Prepare and analyze general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, identify, report and correct errors timely. Assist with other accounting projects as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:  

Demonstrate effective analytical, organizational and communication skills. Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Fundamental understanding of business processes, general ledger accounting and financial statements preparation. Proficient computer skills (MS Office suite) including intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Ability to use computer skills in spreadsheet software, to expedite accounting procedures. Experience with NetSuite a plus.

Qualifications: 

Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting and/or associate degree in accounting. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Principal Line of Promotion: 

This is a staff level accounting position that could lead to a senior level accounting position.
