Rhinebeck Woman’s Health, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Practice Assistantto join our team. Practice Assistantis responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.
Schedule: This is a 40-hour work week to be determined by the supervisor. Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer serviceMust possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, Management Staff, and PhysiciansDemonstrate professionalism in appearance and actions with patients, staff, Physicians and Administrators at all timesMaintains confidentiality of patient informationGreets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smileAssists patients with signing in and completing registrationEnters and scans patient’s demographic and insurance information into EpicVerifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefitsCollects co-payments and patient balancesAnswers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messagesProvide patient appointment and procedure scheduling both on telephone and with direct patient interaction in office, and scheduling maintenance of surgeries for one or more PhysiciansReschedule patient appointments as needed using EMR and Scheduling SystemMust possess solid interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, Management Staff, and PhysiciansAssist with staff scheduling and assist manager as neededDemonstrate professionalism in appearance and actions with patients, staff, Physicians and Administrators alwaysMaintains confidentiality of patient information Receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and patients and schedules the procedure according to the availability of the various departments Provides accurate information so that all departments may view and print the schedule for the appointments daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments regarding schedule changes Other duties may be assignedWhat are the reasons to consider working for UnitedHealth Group? High School Diploma/GED (or higher)1+ years of customer service or Healthcare related experience Intermediate of computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)Ability to travel to other offices (Kingston) if neededPreferred Qualifications:
Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)Knowledge of Medical termsKnowledge of OBGYNKnowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plansSoft Skills:
Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from othersNew York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour.
