Ophthalmic Technician

My client is looking for an experienced Ophthalmic Technician This practice is an MD/OD practice with multiple locations. Our ideal candidate is already a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician. Although we are open to speaking with candidates with at least 1 year of Eye Care experience. 

Responsibilities:

  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
  • Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
  • Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
  • Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
  • Explain how to properly use contact lenses
  • Help with inventory management

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT)
  • Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is preferred
  • Experience with EMR tools a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)
