Summary:


Placement of fellow varies with focus of fellowship. Fellows evaluate diagnose and treat a wide range of psychosocial problems applying individual family and group clinical skills in order to assist patients and their families in the resolution of personal and environmental problems attributable to psychiatric issues which prevent them from achieving their highest level of psychosocial functioning.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Consistently apply the corporate values of respect honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.Provide psychological assessment for patients. This includes comprehensive psychological evaluations scoring of data writing reports providing feedback to patients all under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.Participate in consultations with physicians psychologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop optimal treatment plans for patients requiring psychological treatment under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.Under supervision of the psychologist design and implement treatment plans including individual family or group psychotherapy; evaluate and document patient progress.Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job.Participate in performance improvement initiatives and/or research projects.Participate in didactic experiences as part of Brown fellowship.Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience.Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in psychology with clinical training at the graduate and internship level with attestation of completion provided by program director or diploma.Able to provide analytic and therapy skills necessary to evaluate group dynamics individual patient needs develop treatment plans initiate therapy and evaluate results. Able to effectively interact with patients families medical staff and outside agencies in providing services.Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of human development stages systems approaches and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.EXPERIENCE:Pursuant to completion of all requirements for PhD or Psy.D. program from a child clinical focused program.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Works in a clinical outpatient hospital setting and office environment with daily exposure to patient care.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Performs independently within the departments policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of departmental policies and procedures are required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None. Experience supervising psychology practicum students and psychology assistants may be possible.
