Microsoft is seeking a qualified candidate to join the team as a Lab Technician. As a Lab Technician within the Azure Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE), you will support innovative projects and apply your expertise in a fast paced & technically driven environment with a diverse set of teams to ensure that the lab operations is optimized and tuned to perform in a complex environment while continuing to scale network requirement and management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

5+ years of technical experienceOR formal training in a technical trade (e.g., machinist, electrician) AND 3+ years of technical experienceOR Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field AND 2+ years of technical experience. 3 years of experience in Technical operations related to Server System architecture that includes server functionality, network requirements and management, mechanical and electrical specification application, software & firmware application, engineering lab or datacenter environments and/or data center operations.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

Background with system level qualification, validation, I/O interconnect, PCIE high speed data switches. Experience with lab test equipment setups for signal measurement using oscilloscopes and the capability to read and interpret schematic diagrams. Good written and verbal communication & organization skills. Ability to work well independently and on a team. A collaborative spirit and a growth mindset. Customer and results oriented with attention to quality and details. Motivated to continuously learn and improve existing solutions.

Lab Technician ATR-C - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $36.73 - $72.98 per hour. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $48.22 - $79.52 per hour.

Responsibilities

Provides detailed project implementation instructions for integration of development systems and/or test configurations into vetted lab environments. Identifies all material, infrastructure, test equipment, fixtures, and consumable items required to support lab implementation needs for each project request. Identifies and/or recommends vendors for material needs and submits procurement requests. Manages lab service requests in support of project implementations, lab maintenance, and equipment calibration needs. Manages lab capability and capacity planning within defined thresholds. Provide post project implementation support that includes equipment verification and configuration testing in support of defined project requirements. Provide guidance for required troubleshooting, maintenance and management of server racks, bench development set-ups, network connectivity, and infrastructure while coordinating user requirements to align with automation capabilities and recommended technical solutions.  Maintain a thorough understanding of all documented processes and procedures. Drive continuous improvement efforts to meet and support needs inclusive of system operational goals, capacity optimization, and emerging capability needs.
