Job Description

Atlas Molded Products is seeking a  Lead Cutter - 2nd Shift  for the  Byron Center, MI facility .

 Lead Cutter Responsibilities

Ensures all safety requirements are being followed.

Completes required production records. Ensures they are accurate, neat and legible.

Ensures that production and quality standards are achieved.

Monitors and adjusts wire/machine settings to ensure an acceptable product is being produced.

Keeps area clean and orderly at all times; cleans machines as necessary

Performs all required startup, shutdown and clean up procedures.

Places various sized blocks on down cutter and slabbers for cutting.

Operates and performs set-up of down cutter, slabbers and valley machine; obtains set-up verification from co-worker.

Completes re-work by the end of shift.

Ensures the proper type of material is being cut.

Correctly follows Grind Procedure.

Notifies supervisor of any break down of equipment.

Retrieves blocks from storage areas of plant.

Ensures proper amount of material is being cut; utilizes material to reduce waste.

Helps to ensure walkways, exit rows and fire extinguishers are kept clear.

Seeks supervisor for work assignment during downtime.

Works necessary hours as determined by supervisor to complete tasks.

Follows posted schedule for production requirements.

Notifies supervisor of any unsafe conditions and/or acts.

Continuously strives to lower material costs and improve efficiencies of cutting operation.

Responsible for learning the differences in materials used.

Understands and performs lock out/tag out of machine.

Performs outside (SWPPP) clean-up as requested.

Performs other related tasks/projects as requested by supervisor.

Is helpful in training all new employees or transfers from other departments.

Assists and/or works in other departments as requested.

Lead Cutter Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred.

Lead Cutter, Skills & Abilities

Problem solving and critical thinking desired Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken, preferred. Must be able to use simple math, count and use basic hand-held measuring tools.

Lead Cutter, Licenses & Certifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred.
