ABOUT THE ROLE:

Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for an Asphalt Luteman/Raker to support Asphalt paving operations in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area. The position is primarily responsible for raking and spreading asphalt, base, dirt, or other materials to the proper grade and finish in parking lots, roads or driveways.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Distribute and rake asphalt material used in construction, repair and resurfacing. Assist in the pouring, smoothing and setting of asphalt on roads, pathways, and parking lots Match and finish freshly made asphalt paving joints. Raking, sweeping, and lining out the road, as well as working alongside the tractor, mill, paver, and the screed Finish surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt material to the proper grade and thickness to properly adhere material to road surface.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years. Basic mathematical skills Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail. Knowledge of the paving process Ability to follow direction of the supervisor and other crewmembers. Previous asphalt or related construction experience is preferred. Able and willing to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold. Constant physical effort is required. The work shift will last at least eight hours and requires constant standing, stooping, bending, crouching, and lifting. Must be able to lift, spread, and move materials by hand or hand tools such as shovels and wheelbarrows Ability to lift 50lbs

Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
