Senior Accounting Analyst

The position plays a critical role in managing investment accounting related financial activities such as consolidating reporting, analyzing the results included in those reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and maintaining the accounting expertise necessary to do the reporting. Additionally, the position ensures consolidated financial information is properly recorded in the SAP general ledger system.

Onsite, Placement Location: League City, Texas

What will you do?

Proactively identify improvements and make recommendations which may have an important bearing on management decisions and performance of the team, specifically around reconciliations and data cleanup with custodians and third-party managers

Prepare, review, and/or analyze GAAP and statutory financial information related to the company’s fixed income, equity, and alternative investments for internal and external reporting 

Manage month end reporting, ensuring timely closing of the investment accounting sub ledger

Coordinate with third-party service provider, ensuring journals are complete and accurate 

Identify and resolve transaction discrepancies and provide detailed explanations for variances between actual and planned activity

Perform accounting research as required for new investments and accounting standard updates which will encompass large amounts of data and transactions

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field

Four years + experience in the insurance industry

Prior experience in investment accounting and professional industry experience with experience in investment accounting, reconciliation, and technical reporting

Knowledge and experience with Clearwater and CAMRA software

Basic understanding of GAAP accounting standards

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Curious, agile, and comfortable managing the work independently
