The Assistant Director/Lead Teacher of the Lion Cub Academy Taylor Hall oversees the staff and operations. Key obligations required include the knowledge/implementation of innovative and effective teaching methods as well as fiscal responsibility to benefit the patrons of the Lion Cub Academy Taylor Hall. The Assistant Director/Lead Teacher is also responsible for assuring the Lion Cub Academy Taylor Hall is in compliance with the codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Maintain an annual budget created by the LCA Director for the facility.

Inventories academic supplies and equipment and requests purchases when necessary.

Works collaboratively with the Administrative Assistant.

Must be able to manage confidential and sensitive information.

Processes the paperwork necessary for any financial assistance programs that are used by center parents.

Submits monthly attendance records for financial assistance programs.

Maintains all necessary documentation for state regulations and licensing.

Developing, monitoring, and tracking of student worker schedules.

Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum and classroom environment to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care.

Interviews student worker candidates and maintains the student worker files.

Evaluate and conference teacher assistants and student workers on performance evaluations.

Supervises Franklin Tech early childhood practicum students for their clinical field experience.

Recruits, interacts, and provides tours for parents of children interested in attending the LCA.

Supervises teacher assistants and student workers who educate the children enrolled in the LCA in the areas of cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.

Twice annually reviews the educational progress reports on the children for distribution to center parents.

Implements the food program; by record keeping and coordinating with Fresh Ideas.

Plans and implements afterhours parent involvement activities.

Serves on the Parent Advisory Council for the LCA.

Conducts emergency preparedness drills monthly.

Creates and maintains the LCA Assessment Plan

Maintain rapport with parents. Help parents in need find resources for their family.

Work actively to main high curriculum standards.

Establish performance goals and objectives.

Explain or answer procedural questions.

Communicate effectively with staff, parents, community parents and state inspectors.

Conducts background checks on childcare staff with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry and FBI.

Document accidents or incidents that happen while caring for the children and contact families in a timely fashion.

Uses appropriate sanitation standards when handling bodily fluids, blood, feces, nasal secretions, and urine.

Ensures that the Assistant Teachers are kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, training received.

Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities, completes at least the 12 required hours of clock training each year per state licensing.

Assists the director in any project that is assigned.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.

Minimum one year experience required for this position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Teaching certification required for this position is preferred but not required.
