JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide support to families with immigrant and English language learners to involve parents in the educational process and to ensure a smooth transition for students. Connect parents to community resources available for students. Provide in school support for new students to navigate the educational system.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan parent involvement activities, in conjunction with campus principal and staff.
Exercise good communication etiquette, develop rapport with parents, initiate parent contacts through phone, mail, and in person.
Develop positive relationships between school and home to ensure student success.
Maintain documentation of agendas, sign in sheets, and minutes for parent involvement meetings.
Carry out parent education programs.
Assist with parent conferences and parent communications with English to Spanish translations.
Connect families to needed resources.
Coordinate the revision of the parent involvement policy and parent compacts for the campus.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Regular attendance.
Maintain confidentiality
EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance Effective interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills General computer knowledge General knowledge of school programs Ability to work with students and teachers effectively Bilingual in Spanish/English
