Responsibilities & Requirements

The Wound/Ostomy Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources, the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments. Serves as a resource for nursing staff and other health care professionals regarding wound/ostomy/skin management and care.

Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred (will consider qualified candidate working toward BSN completion – must be completed within 5 years of hire)

Minimum Work Experience
At least 2 years Med/Surg Experience
Previous wound/ostomy experience preferred but not required

Required Licenses
[Ohio,United States] Registered Nurse
Registered Nurse
Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse

Wound/Ostomy certification preferred at hire – if not, required to obtain within 3 years of hire

Required Skills

Experience with EPIC charting preferred
Experienced and able to work independently
Prioritization and patient triage
Patient teaching experience preferred
