Join Our Team as a Mechanical Design Engineer –Interiors Seating

Are YOU passionate about innovative design and engineering? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where your ideas can shape the future of aviation interiors? We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Super First Class Products Team.

Role Overview: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing major components and functional systems, as well as technically advanced prototypes. Your work will directly contribute to the development and improvement of products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

What You Will Do:

  Design Ownership :

Oversee the product life-cycle from initial concept through to production and product support.

Mechanical Design :

Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.

Engineering Calculations :

Perform calculations to determine the size and strength of components.

Problem Solving and Validation :

Solve design problems and verify computations contributing to analytical designs.

CAD Work :

Prepare, modify, and release drawings created in CAD (Siemens NX) to verify the fit, form, and function of mechanical designs.

  Structural Verification :

Test prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through dynamic crash testing to ensure structural acceptability.

Engineering Tools Utilization :

Use engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA, and DFMA to validate design content.

Material and Part Evaluation :

Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs, including communication with current and new suppliers.

Team Collaboration :

Operate in a team environment with input from other functional areas and participate in design reviews.

Travel Requirements : 0-10%. To a local sister site.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

Qualifications We Prefer:

Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products. Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software. Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Manager (PDM) tools. Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles. Familiarity with FAA requirements is a plus.

Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions participants will be eligible for a career at RTX.
