This position reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for the daily operation of the Welding Department. Holds team members accountable for efficiency, quality, safety and compliance with the company policy.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Provide a safe work environment and assure that team members follow safe work practices
  • Manage daily activities of the department to meet production demands in both quantity and quality
  • Communicate effectively with Leads and other team members to direct personnel
  • Communicate with other departments to assure proper materials and equipment are provided for the team members
  • Evaluate performance of team members
  • Provide training and coaching to help team members advance skills
  • Communicate expectations and challenges to team members
  • Assist other individuals in the Welding Department when needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and assist with implementation of changes
  • Be a role model for the department by practicing employee engagement while having a respectful and positive attitude
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  • Experience in leadership role required
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
  • Ability to plan and implement changes
  • Math skills including good understanding of fractions and angles
  • Ability to read blueprint drawings and cut lists
  • Computer skills including ability to use and create word documents and spread sheets
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Trained in forklift and overhead crane operation
