Nemours is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient program in Deptford, New Jersey.

This is a Full-Time, 30-hour per week position which includes full time benefits. Work schedule is Days with 2 evenings until 7pm and one evening until 6pm.

Primary Job Function

Provides occupational therapy evaluations, interventions and patient/family education. Will establish and maintain appropriate documentation and communication with medical and clinical staff and outside agencies within the guidelines designated by state licensure, the department and Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.  Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. Able to provide occupational therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.  Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards. Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.  Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.  Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.  Completes all mandatory training, may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR, and program specific respiratory training.  Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.  When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980. GL.24.  Teamwork: Participates in conflict identification and resolution. Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams. Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.  Professional Development: Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidenced based practice through literature reviews, in-services, courses and mentorships. May provide input on new treatment intervention strategies to ensure evidenced-based and current practices. Based on programmatic need and licensure requirements may be required to provide inpatient/outpatient coverage at various locations associated with Nemours. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required. Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. One (1) to three (3) years of experience preferred. State of New Jersey Occupational Therapist License required upon hire.  Delaware State Occupational Therapist license to practice must be obtained and maintained for duration of employment, regardless of program or location. Must submit license or proof of application submission with 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment.  AHA BLS/CPR certification (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) required within 6 months of employment and must be maintained for duration of employment. Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, state OT association) preferred. Pediatric experience is preferred. Dual state licensure required for patient care at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware based on staffing/census.
